The Lake District, with Ambleside at its centre, cannot be seen in a day.
There are so many facets to it and so many exciting and interesting things to do in this most
beautiful part of England that it is well worth a longer stay.

Ambleside is a great centre for walking and cycling, with easy, strenuous, difficult and darn right dangerous routes which are
great ways to see the landscape, get excercise and have fun.
Tourist Information Centres carry walks and cycle route leaflets to get you on your way.
And WALKING IS FREE!!bring some good strong shoes or walking gear, Flip flops and stilettoes are not reccomended for high peaks!!
You can tour the Lake District by bus (get a day or 2,3,4 day bus ticket for economy)
