The Lake District, with Ambleside at its centre, cannot be seen in a day. There are so many facets to it and so many exciting and interesting things to do in this most beautiful part of England that it is well worth a longer stay.
Ambleside is a great centre for walking, both easy and strenuous, which is the way to see the landscape at its best. Tourist Information Centres carry walks leaflets to get you easily on your way. And WALKING IS FREE!!
